Escorted classic tour of Sicily itinerary...
Friday: Arrival in Catania. Arrival in Catania and free transfer to the hotel. In the evening meeting with Our assistance at the Hotel for a little briefing about general information on the itinerary. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.
Saturday: Piazza Armerina and Cefalù. Breakfast at the hotel. Departure to Piazza Armerina, in the heart of Sicily, where we will visit the famous "Villa Romana del Casale", very important for its fantastic mosaics. Lunch at a local restaurant and continue to Cefalù to visit of the Norman Dome, rich of Byzantine mosaics. We will continue our tour to Palermo. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.
®Saturday: Arrival in Palermo. Clients arriving in Palermo will have a self transfer to the Hotel. Meeting with our assistance in the evening for a briefing on general information about the itinerary. Dinner and overnight at hotel.
Sunday: Palermo and Monreale. Breakfast at the hotel; morning visit of the Capital of Sicily, one of the richest town in Sicily for history and art. We will visit the Cathedral, "Palazzo dei Normanni" with its "Palatina" Chapel, the "Quattro Canti", the Opera House, the Pretoria Square. We will continue to Monreale to admire the Cathedral with its splendid 12th century mosaics and the cloister of the Benedectine monastery with its Moorish architecture. In the afternoon optional excursion to: "Santuario di Santa Rosalia" on Monte Pellegrino and Mondello, the favourite beach of Palermo people for a walk or a nice swim.
Monday: Erice, Selinunte and Agrigento. Breakfast at the hotel; the all day will be dedicated to the visit of the beautiful area of Trapani, with its vineyards famous all around the world. We will visit the fascinating Erice, a small medieval village with ancient Greek origin, situated on a little hill, where it will be possible to enjoy a fantastic view on the Egadi Islands and have a nice taste of its typical almonds biscuits. In the afternoon we will continue with the visit of the archaeological park of Selinunte, the largest in the Mediterranean area. In the late afternoon we will reach Agrigento. Accommodation at the hotel, dinner and overnight.
Tuesday: Agrigento, Caltagirone and Acireale. Breakfast at the hotel; in the morning we will visit the wonderful "Valle dei Templi". Concordia Temple, Ercules Temple, Giunone Temple and Castore and Polluce Temples represent the most beautiful example of the Greek Civilization in Sicily. We will continue to Caltagirone, known for the production of ceramic, where it will be possible to buy a lot of beautiful hand made products. Furthermore we will visit a lab ceramic to discover the secrets of this ancient activity from its birth to nowadays; lunch in a typical farmhouse to taste some of the Sicilian specialties. We will continue to the east cost of Sicily. Accommodation at the hotel, dinner and overnight.
Wednesday: Siracusa and Catania. Breakfast at the hotel. In the morning excursion to Siracusa, the most beautiful Greek colony of Sicily. We will visit the famous "Fontana Aretusa" and the archaeological area with its marvellous theatre and "Orecchio di Dionisio". After lunch in Ortigia, the small baroque island, old city centre of Siracusa, the tour will go on with the visit of Catania, the town known for its original baroque style and for its streets built with black lava stone from mount Etna. Walking tour through Via Etnea, the Baroque street "Via Crociferi", the Piazza Duomo with the Cathedral and the "Liotru" statue, symbol of the city, the Roman Amphitheatre, the Opera House, the University and the noble Palace of Biscari. Return to the hotel, dinner and overnight.
Thursday: Etna volcano and Taormina. Breakfast at the hotel; morning dedicated to a fantastic excursion to Mount Etna, the highest active volcano in Europe. Across fascinating landscape, we will reach a height of 2000 metres, where we will enjoy a fantastic panorama of the Ionic Sea. In the afternoon free time in Taormina, the small medieval village called "the pearl of the Ionic Sea", famous for its typical small streets and his fascinating Roman - Greek theatre. In the late afternoon return to the hotel, dinner and overnight.
®Friday: Departure from Catania. Breakfast at the hotel; End of services for clients arrived in Catania on Friday.
